Abstract=One year after the events of Batman Begins (2008), Batman, Lieutenant James Gordon, and District Attorney Harvey Dent plan to launch an attack on the mob by arresting the shady accountant of the mob, Lau. Lau is abducted from his building by Batman and is thrown into jail. Lau divulges the secrets which results in almost all the mob bosses thrown in jail. The desperate mob bosses turn to The Joker, a sadistic psychopath with green hair, completely yellow teeth, and a custom purple suit. The Joker kills a judge, the Police Commissioner, and tries to kill the Mayor and Harvey. The acts of The Joker produces anarchy and chaos in the people of Gotham, forcing Batman to come to terms to which may seem to be his greatest test to fight injustice and come closer to the fine line between hero and vigilante

Christopher Nolan doesn't cut corners. This movie easily surpasses even the highest expectations and I immensely enjoyed watching it. The plot was convincing and original. The script was smooth and clever. The dialogues were interesting and memorable. The camera work was top quality. There was absolutely no scene where I would think something like "hey I've seen this before *and* the original was better" or "hmm, this served no purpose." Heath Ledger's performance was outstanding. I mean others were great too (Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine) but. Heath, who portrayed the Joker, was just brilliant. Unlike many other movie villains who are basically pitiful clowns, his "clown" is a true villain. He's the guy you don't want to encounter even if you're a masked vigilante, because the price is too great. The Joker has no weaknesses and no inhibitions. Like the devil himself, he's smart, charismatic, dedicated, scary and, in his own sick and morbid way, funny. Worse yet, he corrupts people, he finds the seeds of evil in the darkest corners of their souls.
"The Dark Knight" is a true masterpiece. Even if you don't like Batman movies in general, chances are, you'll enjoy this one.
